Where service design and lived reality diverge

I'm a mixed-methods UX researcher with a background in sociology and cultural studies. I'm interested in how people behave in real-life contexts, and how everyday experiences shape the way they use products and services.

Before moving into UX research I spent over eight years in international aviation, working across 100+ routes as cabin crew and then as a flight chief. It taught me to watch people closely and to understand what they need in fast-paced moments.

When I'm not turning messy research notes into colorful boards on Miro, I'm probably trying a new sport or exploring outdoors with my family and pups. Hear how to say Özge.

When service meets operations

A major international airline launched a hospitality framework to make cabin service more personal. I studied what happens when it meets a real flight, with too few crew, tight timelines and passengers who have never heard of it.

Marketplace listings with a buyer and seller exchanging messages

Trust on Facebook Marketplace is never stated

Buyers rely on messaging to decide whether to go ahead with a purchase. I looked at how unresponsive sellers, automated messages and trust concerns push them to give up.

One app, different rules

Parents who manage their own MyChart account and a child's can find a task open on one and closed on the other, with no explanation. I asked what patients assume is going on. The inconsistency matters less than the silence around it.
